If you drilled a couple holes for suction cups in the basket section it could be used to grow Macro Algae in small tanks that do not have a refugium. This would be a place for copepods to grow and the algae could be harvested for nutrient removal or feeding to herbivorous fish.
This can be done now by tieing some monofiliment around the grids on the bottom of the basket and then connecting it to suction cups on the outside of the tank. (Crude but it works)
When the basket is needed for acclimation simply put the Macro into a bucket of seawater and acclimate as normal. Return the Macro when finished.
The Reef Gently can also be used to dip corals and fish for disease or prophylactic treatment. simply fill the unit with tank water, add the correct medication and dip the fish or coral for the required time. Gently remove the object in the basked and reintroduced to the Display tank or QT. The medicated water should be discarded.
